Please join relationship expert Dr. Polly Young-Eisendrath. PhD in a discussion on love, relationships, and spirituality. Polly draws on 30 years of experience as a Dialogue Therapist and Jungian psychoanalyst, as well as 50 years of work as a Mindfulness teacher and practitioner of Zen Buddhism. Dialogue Therapy is a way of communication that deepens relating, removes obstacles, and increases connection between people. Polly will share the story of her own evolution, and how her life inspired the work that she does to help people.
Polly speaks directly about the ways in which loving well can heal individuals, as well as families, by valuing our differences as a means to greater intimacy. She believes that the greatest challenges today come from our desire for equality, mutuality, and witnessing in our close relationships. Effective psychotherapy with couples allows for the development of a mindful space in which individuals learn to speak for themselves and to listen and respond to each other with tolerance and curiosity. Too many people lose precious relationships unnecessarily because they do not have the skills of dialogue and witnessing. These skills support the individuals’ subjectivity in claiming their own experience of the relationship as well as taking responsibility for their contributions to the relationship dynamics. When we understand our relationships as a spiritual practice, we understand that we are challenging each other in ways that can promote self-understanding and mutual growth. This has been Polly's life work.
